The name says where the room is going: Venice on one side, Hanoi on the other. It is the line that runs through the whole house, Italy and Asia gathered under a Provençal roof. Here it takes the shape of a dark wooden four-poster bed, embroidered silk cushions, painted panels above the headboard. Pale walls, stone floor. Nothing shouts; everything settles.
Twenty-five square metres for two changes the way a room is lived in. You walk around the bed, you unpack without stepping over your luggage, you drink your morning coffee without getting in each other's way. Light comes through the window and slides across the pale stone; in the evening the reading lamps are enough. The grounds are quiet, edged by the Aigues Brun stream and its old trees.
The 160 cm double bed is dressed in white linen. The private bathroom, stone again, is built around a level walk-in shower. The air conditioning is yours alone to set. An HD television, a courtesy tray for tea and coffee, free Wi-Fi throughout the house, free parking on site: what you need, done properly. The room is non-smoking.
It suits couples staying more than one night, the ones who want room enough to really unpack.
In the evening you only have to cross the estate. The restaurant serves from 19:00 to 23:00, seven days a week: Italian and Thai cooking, sharing boards, house cocktails. Read the menu before you come down, and book your table at reception.
