Bali, 30 m² of calm

Room Bali gives you thirty square metres of quiet. A dark wooden four-poster bed sits at the centre without ever crowding it: there is space all around to open a suitcase, sit down, move about. Sand-coloured lime walls, a pale stone floor, a rattan pendant light, embroidered cushions — Provence went travelling as far as Bali and came back calmer.

A window looks out over the rooftops and the greenery of the grounds. Daylight arrives gently, filtered through light curtains. After dark, two reading lamps are enough. This is the most peaceful of our rooms, the one where you mostly hear the trees.

The bed is a 160 cm double. Air conditioning is set room by room, which matters in high summer. The private bathroom is cut from stone: a round basin and a wide walk-in shower, with the toilet in a separate space a few steps further on. An HD television, a courtesy tray on the chest of drawers and free Wi-Fi complete the picture. Parking is free, the room is non-smoking, and reception is open day and night.

It sleeps two, no more. It suits couples who want room to breathe without moving up to the suite, and stays that last a little longer than a night or two.

Bali makes it easy to stay put. Late in the day, the natural bathing pond and the shade of the century-old trees are programme enough. The gallery shows the estate at different hours — the water, the stone, the tables under the trees — if you like to look before booking.
